My medium is scrap wood. I am inspired by the pile of randomly sized offcuts leftover at the end of a furniture project, which I save and put aside for art. When I grow weary of the exacting nature of furniture making, I let my mind wander and make wall art and sculptures. As a former professional audio engineer, my forms take inspiration from various shapes found in music studios, like acoustic diffusers, equalizers, and digital waveforms. Sometimes I work on an art piece for months, adding just a few pieces per day. When I run out of steam making art, I return to furniture and relish the formality again. When I manage to fully organize myself, I try to combine the two disciplines and make art-furniture.

Through my collages I try to highlight the raw natural beauty and endless variety of wood grain. By using offcuts, material that would otherwise be discarded, I aim to challenge our throwaway culture and cultivate wonder from waste. I imagine my sculptures as reanimated trees, remnants coalescing into Frankenstein forms. My process is part random improvisation and part slow meditation, deliberately eschewing any initial vision or plan. My choices for each juxtaposition are guided by a loose system of intentional entropy and maximum variation.

Many of the selected works shown above are for sale. I also take commissions for new works based on these examples. Please contact me for more information.
